Wales Civil Society MDGs Task Force

The Wales Civil Society Millennium Development Goals Task Force has been facilitated since 2003 by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), chaired by WCVA Chief Executive Graham Benfield. The meetings and work of the Task Force are coordinated by Peter Davies, Sustainable Development Commissioner for Wales, who also line manages the MDGTF projects 'Gold Star Communities' and 'Size of Wales' (Rainforest Conservation).

The MDGs Task Force Archive Page is a reference bank for meeting notes and papers, and all currently planned meeting dates for 2010-11 for use of MDGs Task Force members, and for public information.

"The Wales MDGs Task Force took up the pilot for the UN Gold Star project and awards scheme as a means of turning ‘good words’ into meaningful, grassroots-led activity that can bond local communities in Wales and Africa. By bringing together at a local level a wide range of groups across communities, the benefits to social harmony, sustainable development and problem solving can be as profound in Wales as for their African partners. This is a truly Welsh model of partnership working for sustainable development."
